08.03.10 Porsches 2 Oxford Enjoys New Record Attendance For Sixth Annual Event
August 4, 2010 by Chris Rieman
The skies were wet in every direction, but uptown Oxford remained dry as the rural college town along the Ohio-Indiana border entertained an event-record 445 cars (480 registered) for its sixth annual ‘Casual Porsche Party.’ Owners brought their cars from 17 states, two Canadian provinces, and 34 Porsche Club of America regions, the latter also a new benchmark. The 445 attendees surpass last year’s record attendance of 409 Porsches.
Hosted by the Mid-Ohio Region PCA, Porsches 2 Oxford has set a new attendance record in all six years of the event, a remarkable achievement considering the economic climate and unfavorable weather forecasts of the past several years.
“Attendees once again outdid themselves,” said P2O Media and Publicity Director Chris Rieman. “Every year organizers fear the plateau, but this event has become larger than life. Time and again attendees remarked about never seeing so many Porsches in one place at one time. We had guests from as far away as Texas, Georgia, Florida, New York, and Kansas choosing to make the drive to Oxford. There’s no better compliment given for the hard work organizers and volunteers dedicate to make this weekend happen.”
Central to P2O’s mission statement is doing for others and the American Cancer Society once again took center stage. Sales from preferred parking, general registrations, and afternoon raffles totaled $10,000 for the charity. MaryLynn Roe, event founder and inspiration, lost her courageous battle to cancer in 2006, making the ACS a perfect choice. Organizers have raised $20,000 in the last two years
“Preferred parking in ‘MaryLynns Row’, as well as general registrations and a passing of the collection plate indicates just how generous and compassionate the attendees are,” Rieman said. “P2O started out as a grassroots event at the local club level but has grown into a nationally-recognized automotive event – not just inside the PCA, but to the national sports car community.”
“We enjoy supporting this event every year and look forward to the drive to Oxford,” said Art Zasadny from Wyandotte, Michigan. “We’ve attended every P2O and it’s for a great cause. One year we were unable to bring our Porsche, but drove down in the family car to enjoy the afternoon. We would not miss this event for any other.”
Weekend activities included a Friday afternoon tour of the Taj Ma Garaj in nearby Dayton, a Friday evening outdoor beer and wine garden for arriving guests, Saturday’s signature car show with Top-50 brick trophies representing Oxford’s uptown brick streets, and a Sunday road rally through the Ohio-Indiana countryside. National and local sponsors help underwrite costs, while the Oxford Visitors and Convention Bureau takes a prominent lead in working with Oxford businesses, police, city council, and other interests to get P2O off the ground.
“Porsches 2 Oxford is great for our city,” OVCB Executive Director Diana Durr said. “The national attention and economic gain is a shot in the arm to our community, but the attendees themselves are the crown jewel. They are respectful, appreciative, and a privilege to call guests to the city of Oxford.” As for planning for 2011, those talks are already underway.
“It’s a never-ending process,” Rieman said. “As the event grows, so too the work and responsibility. It’s a magic carpet ride that flies in the face of other events that don’t have the ‘it’ factor. It’s hard to say what our secret is, but listening to attendees and being open to constructive criticism is something we take seriously. We have built up incredible good will and trust with our guests, and organizers work hard to reciprocate that respect in a personal and profound way.”
Porsches 2 Oxford began as Porsches 2 Pinckney (MI) in 2003 as 85 cars took part in the first-year event. The event moved to Oxford in 2005 and entertained a modest 140 cars. The attendees increased to 225 cars in 2006 and 255 cars in 2007. A then-record 396 Porsches made their way to Oxford on July 26, 2008 for the fourth annual event. Last year, the record was broken again with 409 Porsches from 21 states and three Canadian provinces.

Thanks to all Porsche fans that pre-registered for the 6th annual Porsches 2 Oxford, on July 30-31, 2010.
Our hearty congratulations for setting a new pre-registration event record of 33 PCA regions represented from around the country (17 states and several Canadian provinces). Organizers pre-registered 449 cars, with far more favorable weekend weather forecasts giving organizers a solid chance at besting last year’s on-site attendance record of 409 Porsches.
Pre-registering accomplishes a number of important tasks, first and foremost guaranteeing your spot in this weekend’s event! Second, attendees take advantage of the complimentary t-shirt and poster. And third, pre-registration greatly expedites the check-in process on Saturday morning.
Attendees that did not pre-register may register as a walk-up at 8am Saturday morning at the Oxford bandshell.

PRE-REGISTRATION ENDS ON THURSDAY JULY 29th at 11:59PM.
Your payment MUST be received by the pre-registration cut-off or you are NOT considered pre-registered. Absolutely No Exceptions. Submitting only your car information online does not constitute completion of the pre-registration process and you will be registered as a walk-up.

Please go DIRECTLY to the bandshell to complete your check-in upon arrival so you can receive your window card. Parking is first-come first-served. Attendees are not allowed to ’squat’ and reserve parking spaces for later arrivals. If you wish to park next to friends, please arrive at the same time. Enjoy the curvy, paved back-country with other Porsche enthusiasts as the 40-mile road course tests your ability to follow landmarks, clues, and sensory perception in a friendly competition against your other Porsche participants.
The Top-5 finishers based on points receive our coveted P2O brick trophies — the same ones we give out to our Top-50 Peoples Choice cars on Saturday afternoon.
Cost is $45.00 per car with a maximum of 50 cars. Registration and pre-flight instructions begin at 9am at the Oxford Community Park, just 2 miles west of Uptown Oxford. 07.26.10 Porsches 2 Oxford 2010 This Weekend as Sixth Annual Event Invades Rural Town
July 26, 2010 by Chris Rieman
Anticipating over 500 German sports cars, Porsches 2 Oxford organizers are making final preparations for the 6th annual event on July 30-31, 2010. As the nation’s premier Porsche cruise-in entertains attendees from over 20 states and Canada, efforts to raise $10,000 for the American Cancer Society once again takes center stage. Hosted by the Mid-Ohio Region Porsche Club of America, P2O occupies most of the uptown Oxford streets and is free to the public.
“Things are a little chaotic during the week leading up to the event,” said P2O Media and Publicity Director Chris Rieman. “But that’s a sign of just how important this event is to the Porsche community and regional event calendar as a whole. We’ve been a benchmark event since our first year and other event organizers around the country use our model as a blueprint. We find that rewarding on so many levels.”
Dubbed “a casual Porsche party”, P2O organizers host attendees in the rural college town of uptown Oxford, Ohio. Located 30 miles north of Cincinnati along the Ohio-Indiana border, event activities expand this year to include an outdoor food and beer garden nicknamed “Party in the Park” from 6-9PM Friday July 30th to welcome and engage arriving guests, while the signature car show takes place Saturday starting at 8am with an awards ceremony to follow around 4pm. A Sunday road rally along the countryside wraps up the weekend.
“Our offseason goal was to add more activities so guests can make a long weekend out of their travels,” Rieman said. “More opportunities to interact with guests, bring in exciting new vendors, and incorporate the uptown Oxford businesses seemed like a natural response on our part that benefits the entire community.”
Although the casual fun alongside expensive German sports cars headlines the event, P2O brings Porsche enthusiasts together to raise money and awareness for the American Cancer Society. The event’s underlying charity for the past three years, the ACS has a special connection that organizers draw inspiration from.
“MaryLynn Roe co-founded the event in Michigan in 2003 and saw the move to Oxford in 2005, but her courageous battle with cancer was her greatest legacy,” Rieman said. “She passed away from cancer in 2006 but her spirit and vision remain a central rallying point for this event. The ACS is a perfect fit for us.”
Organizers started a new tradition in 2009 to do just that, selling prime parking spots for $100 each to benefit the local chapter of the ACS. All 40 spaces were sold in the first three days of registration. Five dollars from general registrations also benefit the charity while 50/50 drawings throughout the afternoon complete the fundraising. Organizers expanded MaryLynn’s Row parking to 75 spaces in 2010 to accommodate the demand and sold those out as well.
“We raised $10,000 last year and every penny came directly from the attendees,” Rieman said. “This is not an event where organizers ask sponsors to write large checks from an out-of-state office. The giving is personal and profound and done in a way that highlights the very best of intentions by our guests. We plan to raise another $10,000 in 2010.”

06.13.10 MaryLynn’s Row Sold Out! But Plenty of General Parking Remains
June 14, 2010 by Chris Rieman
There’s still a month and a half until the sixth annual Porsches 2 Oxford event invades the countryside along the Ohio-Indiana border, but fans have already spoken for the 75 reserved parking spots near show center in honor of event co-founder MaryLynn Roe. A $100 donation to the American Cancer Society — our underlying charity — secured parking on the bricks of High Street near the uptown band shell.
In 2009, organizers sold 40 spots in MaryLynn’s Row and received many requests to enlarge the parking for those who missed out but wanted to make a larger contribution to ACS. This year, we expanded the area to 75 spots and crossed fingers that all would be sold before the event. Fortunately, that’s exactly what happened as they are all sold with 45 days to spare!
We want to thank everyone in MaryLynn’s Row and streamlined the parking process for Row participants this year by handling all authentication at the event. We will NOT be sending your Window Placards this year. Simply drive in and provide your name to the Oxford police. They will cross-check your name and car and provide directions for parking! Please remember that MaryLynn’s Row parking is reserved parking in the pre-determined area, but individual parking spots inside the area are FIRST-COME FIRST SERVE. Sorry, but we cannot allow squatting for other cars. If you wish to park with friends, simply arrive for parking at the same time.
All of this doesn’t mean there aren’t hundreds of fantastic parking places left however. General registrations are just $25.00 and parking is also FIRST-COME FIRST-SERVE. Organizers will donate $5.00 for every registered car in general parking, guaranteeing EVERYONE a chance to take credit for raising money and awareness for ACS.
Please help us anticipate attendance by pre-registering on our web site at www.porsches2oxford.com. Pre-registered cars receive one free t-shirt and one free event poster. Those items are not included in day-of registrations.
06.01.10 Five Spots Remain for MaryLynn’s Row

With exactly two months until Porsches 2 Oxford 2010, attendees are pre-registering at a record pace! Expanded parking for MaryLynn’s Row to benefit the American Cancer Society is nearly full, but a few spots remain for
those last-minute procrastinators. Your $100 contribution to ACS helps us raise a significant donation to our event’s underlying charity. Last year P2O attendees raised $10,000 and we’re working hard to surpass that total this year.
Just five parking spots remain for MaryLynn’s Row, so visit the P2O web site and pre-register as soon as possible to reserve your prime parking place near the bandshell at show center. Once they are gone, they are GONE.
For those wishing to display their Porsches in general parking, pre-registering still remains your best option to secure your spot in the event and take advantage of our complimentary T-Shirt and Poster. General pre-registration is only $25.00. You may still register in Oxford on Saturday July 30th as you arrive, but you will not receive these complimentary items.

Anticipating over 500 German sports cars, Porsches 2 Oxford organizers opened pre-registration for the 6th annual event on April 5, 2010. Organizers have expanded MaryLynn’s Row parking to 75 spaces in 2010 to accommodate the demand.
“We raised $10,000 last year and every penny came directly from the attendees,” Rieman said. “This is not an event where organizers ask sponsors to write large checks from an out-of-state office. The giving is personal and profound and done in a way that highlights the very best of intentions by our guests. We plan to raise even more money for ACS in 2010.”

04.05.10 P20 Pre-Registration Is Now Open!
April 5, 2010 by Chris Rieman
Porsche fans, this is the moment you’ve been waiting for! Pre-Registration for P2O’s 2010 event on Fri/Sat July 30-31, 2010, is now officially open!
Pre-registration ensures your spot in the event, includes complimentary gifts, and helps organizers plan your attendance. It’s also a great opportunity to capture reserved parking in MaryLynn’s Row with a $100 tax deductible donation to the American Cancer Society. Last year, organizers sold all 40 parking spots in under eight hours and we anticipate similar interest this year as we expand the parking to 75 cars. Consider reserving your space in MaryLynn’s Row to honor event founder MaryLynn Roe — and help us fight cancer together. Our goal is to raise another $10,000.
Organizers are working diligently to reach the 500 car mark for the first time in event history. Last year a record 409 cars from 20 states and Canada descended upon uptown Oxford for our fifth anniversary event — in spite of the sideways rain and morning lightning. We’re confident the national reputation of P2O will continue to make this a signature event for all Porsche enthusiasts around the country.
We look forward to your pre-registration.
03.30.10 Pre-Registration Starts April 5th For Our Sixth Annual Event

Porsches 2 Oxford 2010 Pre-Registration officially beings at midnight EDT on April 5th. Last year we entertained 409 Porsches from over 20 states and Canada, and we’re expecting record-breaking numbers this year! Organizers have been working hard in the offseason to make this year’s event the most enjoyable yet. Friday activities have been added, along with the same great casual party atmosphere that makes our signature Saturday event a cant-miss on the Porsche car show calendar.
We encourage attendees to reserve spots in MaryLynn’s Row by donating $100.00 to the American Cancer Society — our featured charity for the event. In 2009 we raised $10,000 and we’re hoping to better that total this year by increasing the number of reserved parking spots near show center from 40 to 75. That still leaves over 400 great parking spots available for general admission, making P2O the kind of event you wish to make it.
Check this web site often for more details as they are publicized.
03.10.10 Porsches 2 Oxford 2010 Ready for Spring

It’s been a long, cold winter for Porsche owners in the Midwest! Cabin fever may have finally loosened its grip as the temperatures are finally rising however. P2O organizers have been extremely busy over the winter months planning for this year’s event, scheduled for Fri/Sat July 30-31, 2010 in uptown Oxford, Ohio. Our sixth annual ‘casual Porsche party”, P2O is recognized as one of the nation’s top summer attractions on the Porsche car show calendar. This year we’re working diligently to make the event even better than last year, and have some exciting new additions to the P2O weekend to share in the forthcoming weeks and months.
The best news? We’ve brought a meteorologist on board who assures us that last year’s monsoon and gale force winds will be replaced by sunny skies and temperatures in the lower 80s. When that happens, we fully expect to shatter last year’s record number of 408 Porsches by eclipsing the 500 barrier for the first time in event history.
For those looking to pre-register, we’re not quite there yet. Tentative pre-registration will open on the P2O Web site on April 1st. Stay current on the P2O Web site for any date changes. MaryLynn’s Row is back for a second year and your $100.00 pre-registration donation to the American Cancer Society ensures reserved parking near show center. Space is limited! Last year all 40 spots sold in 48 hours and we expect an even larger response in 2010. Our goal is to raise another $10,000 in honor of event co-founder MaryLynn Roe and others currently battling cancer.
Over the weeks and months leading up to P2O, we’ll be upgrading our efforts to better inform fans of news and information via newsletter e-mail. We think you’ll find the improvements a welcomed addition so you can stay on top of things.
07.26.09 P2O Saturday Event Photos Now Online

Organizers recently uploaded several hundred photos from Saturday’s Porsches 2 Oxford. The photos may be viewed by clicking the PAST EVENTS jump menu on the P2O home page and choosing Porsches 2 Oxford 2009.
The fifth anniversary event showcased 409 Porsches from 19 states and Canada despite the unfriendliest weather in event history. The skies cleared up just in time to dry off the uptown Oxford streets and offer a few hours of looking, followed by Top-50 awards and a trailer full of terrific prizes. It pays to stick around to the end as several P2O attendees that left early forfeited prizes exceeding $1,000.00. As always, you MUST be present to win the raffle drawings! Tsk tsk!
07.25.09 Rain Dampens Streets But Not Spirit for Record 409 Porsches
July 26, 2009 by Chris Rieman
Thunderstorms and scattered rain washed the Oxford streets clean for much of the morning and afternoon, but the sun came out late in the day on Saturday July 25th to brighten the mood. Despite the unfavorable forecasts and less than ideal weather, a record 409 Porsches from 19 states and Canada said “bring it on” and flooded uptown Oxford with a deluge of their own. With portions of revenue from registrations, reserved parking in MaryLynn’s Row, and raffle ticket sales, P2O attendees raised $10,000 for the American Cancer Society — another record by nearly five-fold. The can-do willingness to roll with the day’s punches underlined the theme once again for the nation’s most anticipated casual Porsche party.
“It’s difficult to encapsulate the thanks organizers have for the patience and understanding of all 409 attendees,” said P2O Director of Media & Publicity Chris Rieman. “In a perfect world these things don’t happen. For 12 months every volunteer dedicated themselves to the event knowing weather could make a lot of hard work go un-rewarded. Attendees refused to let that happen however and shined the brightest when the skies were darkest.”
Thunderstorms awakened Porsche fans about 4:15am and precipitation remained until shortly after noon. Porsche fans then had a chance to clean cars for good and walk the streets lined with cars from a 1955 356-Pre A to a 2009 Cayman S. Also making appearances were an original Porsche tractor and a pair of Beck 904 and 550 Spyder reproductions on personal display from legendary craftsmen Chuck and Randy Beck of Atlanta, GA. Cincinnati ABC affiliate WCPO-TV Channel 9 provided coverage for the tri-state while a representative from Excellence Magazine handled photography. Top-50 awards — venerable P2O Bricks — and a $10,000 check to the ACS preceded a drive to Hueston Woods State Park to round out the dry portion of the festivities. Local and national sponsors offered a variety wares and tech sessions to keep every owner happy.
“A dozen organizers were on the streets at 4am deciding how best to handle the pending storms,” said P2O Chairperson Brice Kadel. “After a lot of radar-watching, we knew organizers may be forced off the scripted page today. Ultimate success would depend on whether attendees would grant us the latitude to do just that without a lot of fuss. Even my best-case scenario never expected such graciousness and accommodation. The people remain the most impressive part of this event.”
The fifth anniversary event, organizers pre-registered 448 cars and played host to 409. The weather kept around 100 Porsches from attending due to no-shows and weaker day-of registrations, however Porsches on display of all vintages and models eclipsed last year’s record of 396 cars under less threatening skies. Oxford Visitors & Convention Bureau Executive Director Diana Durr and her staff spent months of planning to ensure P2O was a signature event for the city.
“Porsches 2 Oxford is a privilege to be involved with,” Durr said. “Today was probably the most challenging in five years, but also the most gratifying. The OVCB couldn’t ask for a nicer collection of people to run this event or visit the city of Oxford as our personal guest. My team including Barb Rice, Christie Schlichter, and numerous volunteers want to thank everyone for such a positive attitude each and every year.”
“P2O remains first and foremost an event about people,” Rieman said. “Porsches merely provide the excuse to get together and have a great time. Perhaps most satisfying is watching the attendees take ownership of the last Saturday in July. They genuinely care about one another and many tell us if they can only make one event all summer, P2O takes precedence. I don’t see how anyone can argue that point given the incredible turnout today in what were, at times, incredible weather conditions.”
A Sunday driving tour with Scenic Road Rallies wraps up the weekend activities. Porsches 2 Oxford 2010 returns next year on Saturday July 31st.
07.23.09 2009 Pre-registration Has Ended In The Record Books
July 23, 2009 by Chris Rieman
Thanks to loyal attendees and first-time fans, Porsches 2 Oxford finished 2009 Pre-Registration Wednesday night at midnight with nearly 450 Porsches signed up for the July 25 event. That record number eclipses last year’s pre-registration record of 376 Porsches, a staggering 20% increase! Fans not pre-registered for P2O may still register at the event bandshell on Saturday morning beginning at 8am for $25.00 per car, however day-of registrations will not include a complimentary event T-Shirt and Poster.
Organizers will verify the pre-registrations and provide an official count sometime Thursday afternoon as they alert the media.
Without the continued support of Porsche lovers like yourself, P2O would not enjoy this remarkable success. The nation’s most ancitipated “Casual Porsche Party” is just a few days away and we’re once again thrilled to have you as our personal guests. Together we will keep it casual, un-intimidating, and focused on fighting cancer in honor of event founder MaryLynn Roe.
07.21.09 Pre-registration EXTENDED ONE DAY, to Close Wed Night
July 21, 2009 by Chris Rieman
Organizers have elected, due to demand for slightly more time, to add one more day to pre-registration. Over the last three days, nearly 50 Porsche fans have signed up and that pace shows no signs of slowing down. Allowing one more day should ease the strain on Saturday for volunteers handling day-of registrations. The P2O pre-registration process will end on Wednesday July 22, 2009 at 11:59PM. This cutoff will not be extended a second time. If you have not pre-registered yet, this is your second lease on life to do so and guarantee yourself a complimentary T-Shirt and Poster as part of your pre-registration fee. Those registering at the event will NOT receive these items as part of their registration.
Well over 400 registrations have already been made with new ones arriving almost every 20 minutes.
Those with reserved parking in MaryLynn’s Row should have received their blue windshield cars in the mail by now. You MUST bring this card with you to the event to gain access to the MaryLynn’s Row area. There are enough parking spots in MaryLynn’s Row for everyone, however spaces are taken on a first-come first-serve basis. If you have NOT received your MaryLynn’s Row windshield card in the mail by now, please contact P2O Chairperson Brice Kadel at bkadel@porsches2oxford.com or 937-215-0156 immediately.

06.26.09 ACS Donations From Your Region
June 26, 2009 by Chris Rieman
Many attendees have asked organizers if they can raise money from Porsche fans in their own region and bring the donations to Porsches 2 Oxford. Of course! The American Cancer Society raises funds both locally and nationally and all charitable donations serve the greater good for anyone battling cancer. Without research and funding, the number of new treatment options, trial drugs, and other tools to battle the disease become harder to get to the people who need them most: the patients. And without funding, the wait is longer in finding a cure. We encourage you to ask around and see if our underlying charity matters in your region. If so, take up a collection plate and P2O organizers will add it to the charitable giving already planned.
P2O is working hard to donate more than $10,000 to the ACS this year from the sale of event registrations, MaryLynn’s Row reserved parking, and 50/50 raffle tickets. Your help can make this goal achieveable. The beauty of Porsches 2 Oxford charitable giving is 100% comes from the attendees. No sponsorship money is used to fill the money plate, so cancer patients around rural Ohio and the entire country know donations from P2O come at a personal level by those who care. P2O sponsors are on our team to ensure your event experience is the best, most user-friendly, value-added event on your summer car show calendar!

The fifth anniversary event brings together Porsche fans from nearly 20 states and Canada. We’ve also seen significant increases in organized caravans from out of state. P2O fans are taking it upon themselves to organize their own drive with fellow friends to the quaint hinterlands of Oxford, just a stone’s throw from the Ohio-Indiana border.
Pre-registration for the Sunday road rally organized by the professionals at Scenic Road Rallies is also breaking records. Space is limited so do not wait until P2O weekened to reserve your spot.
06.01.09 P2O Releases Official 2009 Event Poster
June 1, 2009 by Chris Rieman
Porsches 2 Oxford unveiled the 2009 event poster to news agencies, media, and corporate sponsors on Monday in preparation for the July 25th event in uptown Oxford, OH. The fifth anniversary ‘Casual Porsche Party” anticipates attracting 500 cars from across the country in another record-breaking turnout.
Chris Rieman, Webmaster and Media/Publicity Director for P2O, designed the poster and the ones before it. In his third attempt at capturing the event’s spirit, he worked with over 1,500 photos before choosing the one to base this year’s design from.
“Our posters are marketing materials and artistic interpretations rolled into one,” Rieman said. “I try to use photos for each poster from the prior event because they are freshest thumbprint on the direction of P2O. From the outset, organizers were adamant about using the posters to increase brand recognition and awareness. To that end, we’ve stuck with basic design principles in terms of logo position, sponsorship space, and artistic canvas to groom a familiarity as a collectible series of posters that display well by themselves but even better as a group.”
The process takes six to eight weeks to trim the list of potential photos to base a design from, then from a cut list the final photo is chosen to work with as the basis for the theme. “P2O is about the Porsche family and we include everyone at the table. Past posters focused on a 911 Turbo, a 944 back-dropped against the huge P2O crowds, and this year a 356 takes center stage. It’s fair to say other Porsche models stand a good chance of finding their way onto future event posters. For such a classy group of people that attend P2O, we want classy looking posters fans won’t be ashamed to hang in their home as a centerpiece to their collection.”
All pre-registered attendees receive a complimentary poster. Extra posters will be on sale at the event.

Pre-Registrations Still Rolling In

Porsches 2 Oxford pre-registration numbers continue their steady climb as the July 25, 2009 event remains more than two months away. Nearly 175 Porsche lovers have already signed up, paid up, and carved out a weekend of their summer car show schedule to make it to Oxford, OH, for P2O’s fifth anniversary event. Nearly 25% of all pre-registrations are new attendees that have no prior P2O visitation. Clearly, P2O is reaching out to new Porsche fans and making a considerable dent in showcasing the nation’s most successful ‘casual Porsche party’ to those who have missed out on the prior four years of fun! Our national promotion has begun and ads can be seen in regional PCA newsletters as well as PORSCHE PANORAMA and other magazines.
Organizers continue to be impressed with the percentage of attendees choosing to stay overnight in or around uptown Oxford. While P2O is is a great excuse to enjoy a one-day event for those with busy schedules, volunteers are encouraged by the number of fans electing to make a short or long weekend out of the festivities. Pre-registration for the Sunday road rally by the professionals at Scenic Road Rallies, LLC, has nearly doubled compared to the same time last year.
P2O staff would also like to welcome PCA Executive Director Vu Nguyen and his guests to the event. Other notables are scheduled to attend as well.

P2O Pre-Registration Reaches 100 Earliest Ever

Official pre-registration numbers cracked the 100 mark for Porsches 2 Oxford this week, the earliest point in the event’s five years that plateau has been reached. All the more impressive is the fact that P2O 2009 pre-registration started nearly three months later than 2008, making the gains even more exciting. Marylynn’s Row sold out in the blink of an eye and pre-registrations for Sunday’s driving tour with the professionals at Scenic Road Rallies, LLC, is on pace to break records as well. Enthusiasm for this year’s event is at a fever pitch and organizers are working hard to publicize and advertise P2O goodness to North America’s Porsche community.
Even better, first-time participation is over 20%. P2O veterans will be expected to do their part by welcoming the newbies with open arms and showing them the ropes.

Marylynn’s Row is SOLD OUT!
April 3, 2009 by Chris Rieman
Porsches 2 Oxford organizers thought it might take eight weeks to sell all 40 Marylynn’s Row reserved parking spaces to benefit the American Cancer Society. It took less than seven days.
P2O instituted a new reserved parking section for 2009 that allowed 40 generous attendees to donate $100 to the American Cancer Society and park their car in a prime location in uptown Oxford. The parking, known as Marylynn’s Row in honor of event co-founder Marylynn Roe, reserves street space directly next to the town bandshell and within shouting distance of show center. Like any new wrinkle, organizers were unsure of the prospects and didn’t want to oversell it to the P2O legion of loyal supporters. Tonight we’re gorging on humble pie! The response was so overwhelming in the first minutes of Pre-Registration that the new hamster wheels of the P2O web site hit redline. We apologize to anyone who had trouble pre-registering!
With Marylynn’s Row accounted for, that still leaves 460 great spaces for other attendees to casually park and enjoy the atmosphere of P2O for just $25 — $5 of that registration going to the ACS as well. With a goodie bag valued at nearly $40, we think P2O is the best Porsche car show bargain in the country! Who else practically pays you to attend? It would never happen without the continued commitment of P2O major sponsorships and supporting sponsors.
Sincerest thank yous to everyone who opened wallets and went beyond the call of duty to fill up Marylynn’s Row so quickly. This was Marylynn’s event and her fingerprints remain all over the casual fun and good times you have come to expect in Oxford on the last weekend in July. To leverage Marylynn’s vision with your generosity to help fight cancer is a perfect way to ensure her spirit lives on. Cancer took Marylynn from us far too soon, as has the disease for so many of your friends and family. Perhaps a few of you are courageously fighting your own battle. The ACS is there to help make a difference. We have come this far together, and together we will help those less fortunate and dealing with a tough hand.

P2O fans, this is the moment you’ve been waiting for! Pre-registration for the fifth annual Porsches 2 Oxford event is now officially open. Attendees planning to reserve a parking space in Marylynn’s Row are asked to do so as soon as possible as volunteers anticipate the spots going quickly. When all 40 spots are gone, you’ll miss your opportunity to help fight cancer with a donation to the American Cancer Society and park your car next to others who have elected to do the same. But that doesn’t mean the fun doesn’t include everyone. P2O organizers have reserved extra street space in anticipation of 500 cars for this year’s event so no matter where you decide to park, you’ll find a great spot among your Porsche friends.
Consider signing up for our Sunday road rally with the professionals at Scenic Road Rallies. Ask anyone who has participated in a prior P2O rally and they will have you convinced to sign up and give it a try.
