2006-p2o-2006-07-31_003.jpg WHAT IS PORSCHES 2 OXFORD?
P2O is a friendly, casual get together of Porsche owners and enthusiasts every summer. Celebrating great automobiles, good times, great eateries, and enough watering holes to serve Miami University, P2O is the perfect event for the Mid-Ohio Region PCA to celebrate the things that make Porsche ownership so unique.

WHEN AND WHERE IS P2O HELD?
The event is hosted in the city of Oxford, Ohio, usually during the last weekend of July. Friday evening kicks off with ‘Party in the Park’ along the uptown plaza lawn — a great way for arriving guests to park their cars, make friends, and partake in food and spirits. Saturday is our signature event with hundreds of Porsches lining the brick-lined streets of uptown Oxford.  Sundays are often reserved for extra activities such as road rallies for those wishing to make their stay a total weekend event.

WHY OXFORD OHIO?
The quaint brick-lined streets of uptown Oxford provide the perfect picturesque backdrop for hundreds of beautiful cars and the owners who drive them. The rural college town on the Ohio-Indiana border is small enough to provide a terrific road trip for attendees near and far, but also has the infrastructure in place to support an event like P2O that continues to grow by leaps and bounds every year. Oxford is home to Miami University where 15,000 full-time students go to school and root on their RedHawks.

WHAT KIND OF ATTENDEE TURNOUT DOES P2O GENERATE?
The first P2O event held in Oxford was 2005 and included 140 registered cars. A year later, the turnout increased over 50% to 240 shiny Porsches.  In 2007, P2O welcomed 290 cars. That number increased to 396 Porsches in 2008 and 410 cars during a rain-soaked event in 2009 . Significant increases are expected in the coming years as one of the nation’s fastest-growing Porsche-only events continues to gain an unparalleled reputation of casual fun.

HOW DID P2O GET STARTED?
Prior to coming to Oxford, the event was held in Pinckney, MI, as Porsches 2 Pinckney. In 2003, the P2P had 83 cars. After a seven month search for a new event home across dozens of cities in the tri-state, Oxford was chosen in winter 2005. The city of Oxford, OH, is the new permanent home and has the backbone in place to keep it that way. P2O is the brainchild of Marylynn Roe.

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PLANNING P2O?
The Mid-Ohio Region PCA (MORPCA) is the chief oversight committee responsible for planning, scheduling, and orchestrating the event during the offseason as well as P2O weekend. Longtime MORPCA member Ron Thomas acts acts as current Chairperson and bring several years of club actvitity experience. Fellow MORPCA member Marty Reich is responsible for P2O pre-registrations and also emcees the event in the Oxford bandshell throughout the day. Ohio Valley Region member Chris Rieman serves as P2O Webmaster and coordinates all media and publicity particulars. Many other PCA and non-PCA Porsche enthusiasts — far too many to count — lend their help throughout the year to get everything off the ground. Local city planners including Oxford Visitors and Convention Bureau Director Diana Durr help get it all off the ground.

WHAT EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES TAKE PLACE AT P2O?
Schedules and events change yearly but in most cases Friday evening is reserved for ‘Party in the Park’. On Saturday, ‘a Casual Porsche Party’ invades uptown Oxford with hundreds of Porsches, while sponsor product demonstrations and teaching seminars may be schedule. Afternoon door prize giveaways and a drive through Hueston Woods State Park follow the awards ceremony. Sunday includes sanctioned road rallies throughout the Ohio-Indiana countryside.

DOES P2O SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES AND CHARITIES?
Giving back is half the fun and P2O makes a considerable effort to ensure the gracious people who open their streets and front doors to P2O attendees take part in the success of the event.  P2O’s signature charity of the American Cancer Society.  Everyone knows someone affected by cancer and your help makes a difference in raising money and awareness. Event Co-Founder Marylynn Roe battled cancer courageously before her passing in 2006 and her legacy is one we strive hard to maintain. Money is raised through registrations, Marylynn’s Row reserved parking, and a 50/50 raffle during the event. Our goal is to raise at least $10,000 each year.

Many coupons and specials for P2O attendees are available for use at local businesses and restaurants to help provide a positive boost to the local economy. We encourage all attendees to patronize local businesses to demonstrate your appreciation for their warm welcome.

WHAT COMPANIES AND BUSINESSES HAVE SUPPORTED P2O?
P2O has benefited from terrific support over the years through key sponsorship opportunities that target the things attendees have a key interest in. Past supporters include Griot’s Garage, Porsche of the Village (Cincinnati), Autobahn Extremist, AUTO Aficionado Magazine, EPR Automotive, Motomotion, Foreign Exchange, Imagine Auto, Inc., L. Lynn Reich State Farm Insurance, Automart Magazine, The Elms Holiday Inn, and several other restaurants and locally owned businesses.
